The axe is constructed of good quality steel. The weld for the hammer head is solid. The threads for each tubular attachment are durable and smooth -- I have had zero issues with my threads, though other comments have said they are tight. They can be lubricated, however you want the threads to be tight so they don't unscrew while in use and to ensure you don't lose/separate attachments while in transit.
